Five Things Unbelievers Cannot See

It might help Christians to be better witnesses for the Lord Jesus if they understand how and why they are so different from unbelievers.

John 3:3: Jesus answered and said unto him, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God.

He cannot see speaks of blindness. Not being born again is the cause of the blindness. The kingdom of God is the thing that their blindness prevents them from seeing.

Luke 17:21: Neither shall they say, Lo here! or, lo there! for, behold, the kingdom of God is within you.

Those who have not been born again will not be able to see the kingdom of God in you exactly as it is. They may see that you are different from them but they will probably not think you are different in a good way. They might think you are kind of weird. They will not see the righteousness of Christ, the peace of God, the joy of the Holy Spirit or the power of God that are in you because the kingdom is in you.

Romans 14:17: For the kingdom of God is not meat and drink; but righteousness, and peace, and joy in the Holy Ghost.

Believers can see righteousness in a way that unbelievers cannot. That is why believers and unbelievers have such different ideas about what is right and what is wrong. At its worst this blindness actually causes unbelievers to think good is evil and evil is good.

Isaiah 5:20: Woe unto them that call evil good, and good evil; that put darkness for light, and light for darkness; that put bitter for sweet, and sweet for bitter!

Unbelievers do not see the peace of God or experience peace with Him. They cannot understand that there is a kind of peace that goes beyond their understanding.

Philippians 4:7: And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.

Unbelievers do not have the peace from the Creator of their hearts and minds that would keep their hearts and minds.

Neither do they see the joy of the Holy Spirit as a good thing. They are not joyful over the same things that give joy to believers. They sometimes actually laugh at things that are not funny. One TV program that shall go unnamed actually treats things like running into walls and falling off bicycles as if they are funny. Sick.

Matthew 13:11: He answered and said unto them, Because it is given unto you to know the mysteries of the kingdom of heaven, but to them it is not given.

The mysteries of the Kingdom are revealed to believers little by little. Some of the mysteries will only be completely cleared up when we get to Heaven. These mysteries are not revealed to unbelievers.

1 Corinthians 4:20: For the kingdom of God is not in word, but in power.

2 Timothy 3:5: Having a form of godliness, but denying the power thereof: from such turn away.

Unbelievers will not be able to perceive or understand God*s power. It has not been applied to them personally. They will deny that the power of God exists and has been a blessing to others, even when it should be as plain as the noses on our faces.

When we encounter individuals who are physically blind, we gently and respectfully try to lead them away from danger and point them to safety and blessing. That is what we should try to do for those that are spiritually blind as well. It is remarkable that a majority of physically blind people will accept the help of sighted persons and a majority of spiritually blind people will not. But if we love them we will keep trying.
